The Mobile Spatial Interaction Initiative

Welcome to the Website of the "Mobile Spatial Interaction Initiative"

What is Mobile Spatial Interaction (MSI)?

The vision of Mobile Spatial Interaction (MSI) is to use a mobile computer as a virtual pointer to the surrounding space. The rapid evolvements on the handset market, the growing amount of georeferenced content and innovative user interaction techniques promise to revolutionize the way to use a mobile phone.

Read an introduction to MSI in this feature article published in the interactions magazine (January 2008).

What is the MSI Initiative?

The MSI initiative aims at promoting the idea of Mobile Spatial Interaction. So far, we have organized a very successful Workshop on Mobile Spatial Interaction at CHI07 and we have edited a Special issue on Mobile Spatial Interaction for the Personal and Ubiquitous Computing Journal.

Further activities are currently under way, such as an article to the overall computing community, outlining in detail the current status and remaining challenges. We'll keep you posted!

Here's a list of people who have so far contributed to the activities of the MSI initiative.
